truth lies
It's almost two weeks now since the historic automated national elections. It was fast. It had some glitches, yes, but at some point we were ready to pat ourselves and everybody else's back for a job well done. Why not, right? After watching those people breaking all the odds just to cast that ballot - and be heard in the process - we were immediately ushered to a clearer view of our future government. Why this is good news? Because a new hope is promised amidst us. A promise that finally the Arroyo administration will finally be over. A promise of new things, a promise of reform, rehabilitation, and poverty alleviation, even among those who didn't choose Noynoy as the next president of this republic - including myself.
But as most good things, it doesn't last that long. People are easily bored. And when people tend to get bored, we're easily attracted to conspiracy theories, destabilizations, crazy ideas - in short, one whole fucking circus. Everyone wanted their own share of the whole ruckus.
I felt sorry for Smartmatic when Congressman Locsin furiously addressed them as "sons of bitches". I also worked in an IT industry. And it's almost everyday we get to interact with clients. There are times when they tend to get cranky. This is especially applicable in a highly-critical systems where all people are extremely stressed. As an IT consultant, we can only do so much. Clients have a very critical role in the overall success of the project.
It's just sad (to almost annoying) that people actually wasted days and (government) resources just to satisfy their trapo ways. As I've said, technology can only do so much. First, there's vote buying, intimidation and violence. Then there's electoral protests, intimidation, and violence. It's almost a vice we cannot get enough of. Why can't we just get everything in order? Why do people have to resort to extreme measures to cheat to win? Why don't people just sit down and fucking shut up if they clearly lost? Why do we need to put up a show for the world to see? It isn't a healthy exercise of democracy. It's more like an unhealthy proliferation of stupidity.
As the days passed, the Comelec's credibility is compromised - and in general, our country's too. The economy is hurt (we witnessed helplessly a consistent bloodbath in the stock market the whole week). Every election-related news became annoying part of our TV habit.
For now, there's nothing much we can do but hope and pray that everything will be resolved in a manner that all parties will be satisfied and as soon as possible. There's so much things to be done ahead. Let's get over the child's play and get things done as grown-ups do.

Forget your personal tragedy. We are all bitched from the start and you especially have to be hurt like hell before you can write seriously. But when you get the damned hurt use it — don't cheat with it.
